This famous park is located amidst magnificent natural forests in the extreme end of South west Uganda, across the steep escarpments of the western rift valley, Bwindi is the only park in the world which is famous for harboring half of the world’s endangered gorillas. There are 880 mountain gorillas now in whole world, Uganda alone has 480 and 37 families 356 bird species, It is worthwhile for you to encounter one group of habituated gorillas believed to be the origin of mankind; the greatest attraction in Uganda today!
Gorilla trekking is the main activity in this park. It is a treasure comprising of different flora and fauna with six gorilla groups currently available to be visited by only 8 persons per group on daily basis i.e. (Mubare, Habinyanja, Rushegura, Bitukira) in central Bwindi and(Nshongi Nkuringo )which can be accessed from Kisoro However, strict rules have to be adhered to in order to prevent behavioral disturbances and transmission of communicable diseases to endangered primates….
The forest is also a habitat for over 90 species of mammals, other primates and 346 species of bird life of which 90% of Albertine rift endemic to East Africa. Evening performances by local communities around Buhoma is worthwhile to see or a cultural village walk to meet and interact with the local communities is optional activities to be done. If you prefer, you can relax amidst African jungle.

We begin the safari from Kampala or Entebbe Our guide/driver picks you at 8:00 a.m from your hotel or residence. Drive to Mbarara (283km from Kampala ) via Masaka. Make a first stop over at Equator crossing for snacks and photography. Lunch break is made at Regency Hotel or Agip Motel Mbarara. After lunch, drive to Bwindi. This is the lushest highland rain forest on earth, filled with primates and exotic birds, valleys, hilltops and papyrus swamps. The afternoon is spent on a foot safari around the local communities living around the park. Meals and overnight at any of the following recommended accommodation: Gorilla Forest Camp, Bwindi Resort, volcanoes,Ruhija Lodge (High end/luxurious accommodation), Buhoma Lodge, Engagi Lodge, Lake Kitandara Tents, Silverback Lodge (Medium class accommodation) and Buhoma local community Bandas (Low budget/basic accommodation)
Begin the day with breakfast ready for trekking, which begins at 8:00 a.m with a briefing from the UWA staff. Ensure to carry along with you rain jacket, drinking water, snacks, jungle boots etc The guides will lead you inside the jungle to see the shy Primates for a group you have been booked for. Do not forget to take your lunch boxes and all the necessary gear to track the rare Mountain Gorilla, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. The tracking may take between 2 and 6 hours but its well worth the effort. Return to Kampala, then Entebbe, with lunch enroute and stop over at Equator
Optional volunteer one day activity for clients: Today morning begins with African breakfast. The team gets set to go and does community work within the communities’ eco projects staying adjacent the park. Volunteer services with local Associations include constructing schools, health clinics, cultivating a community garden, making crafts or digging a road leading to a trading center. In the evening, the guests return to the camp. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
